What Is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure. It involves pricking the skinwith tiny sterilized needles. The small wounds cause your body to make more collagen and elastin, which heal your skin and help you look younger. You might also hear it called collagen induction therapy.

Microneedling may help with issues like:

- Dark spots or patches on your skin (hyperpigmentation)

Microneedling is less expensive than laser treatments, which can cost about four times as much. Microneedling may work better for people with darker skin tones because it doesn’t involve heat the way laser treatments do, which can affect your skin’s pigmentation, or color. Ask your dermatologist what’s best for your skin -- and your budget.
What Happens When You Get Microneedling
Dermatologists (doctors who specialize in skin care and skin disorders) can do microneedling. The procedure usually takes 10-20 minutes, depending on how big the area is. Most people need 4-6 treatments to see a difference.
First, you’ll get a numbing cream smoothed onto your face so you can’t feel the needle pricks. Then your doctor will move a pen-shaped or rolling tool with tiny needles around your face. The needles make small cuts in your skin, which causes a bit of bleeding. Your doctor may spread a serum or meso cocktails on your face after that.to achieve better results and this process is called mesoneedling.
Usually there is no side effects if you consider precautions but rare side effects are hyperpigmenation, scarring, infection and redness.
Precautions:
Sunscreen should be started immediately after treatment if done at the day timeand regular use is necessary once a day and every 3 hours. Gentle washing of the skin is allowed on the day of treatment, but do not use strong cleansers. In the first 24 hours, it is better to avoid bathing, sauna and swimming pool. If you use night creams, anti-wrinkle, exfoliating and blemish creams, it is better to avoid using them to eliminate skin inflammation. But you can continue when there is no redness or about 5-7 days after procedure. It is better to use a repair cream at night for one week.
